Location

Nestled between the traditional Andalucian villages of Colmenar, Comares and Riogordo this is the ideal base for your holiday. Casa Media Luna is set is set amongst olive and almond groves in the Andalucian Mountains close to the scenic Montes de Malaga Natural Park and within easy reach of Malaga and Granada airports. The villa is just 6km from Colmenar our nearest traditional white village and is a 40 minute walk to Solano which has a small bar in an old church and two fabulous restaurants.

The Montes de Malaga Natural Park, famous for its walking and cycling tracks through shady pine forest is 15 minutes drive and the El Chorro Gorge and El Torcal Natural Park and famous GR7 walking route are within easy driving distance. Nearby Antequera has historic churches, a castle, shops, restaurants and an excellent golf course. Malaga is a city not to be missed with many historic sites including the Alcazaba and Cathedral, the Picasso Museum, excellent tapas bars and restaurants and enough good shops to satisfy any shopaholic. Granada with the world famous heritage site the Alhambra Palace is an hour away. Seville, Ronda and Cordoba with its famous Mezquita are also within easy reach. The sandy coastal beaches are just 45 minutes drive. 

Facilities

Here at Casa Media Luna we cater for a maximum of four people in two double bedrooms, so no fear of there being lots of people by the pool and privacy, peace and tranquillity are guaranteed. There is a large living room where we invite guests to make themselves at home incorporating a wood burner for a cosy feel on cool winter nights with satellite TV including the main UK terrestrial channels, Spanish TV, DVD player and DVD library, stereo and a piano for anyone wanting to tinkle the ivories. The whole house and terrace area has wifi internet connection.  We have a stylish fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons where we will prepare your meals.  The guest rooms do not have tea and coffee making facilities but we will make you fresh tea and coffee whenever you want it.

The continental breakfast can be taken inside or on the terrace and consists of freshly baked bread, croissants, toast, fruit juices or home made smoothies, cereals, yoghurts, jams, local Colmenar honey, fresh fruit, tea and coffee.  For your convenience and comfort whilst you are relaxing at the villa, there is a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages including a selection of local wine, available to purchase from the guest fridge.  There is a snack menu available with a selection of home made tapas, pizza, freshly baked baguettes and ice-creams or if you are in the mood why not take afternoon tea on the terrace with Erika's delicious home made cakes.

There are plenty of good restaurants in and around Colmenar but if you fancy a relaxing evening at the villa we will provide a light 3 course evening meal (including half bottle of wine per person).  We use local products where possible including our own olives and almonds, Colmenar honey and local meat from the famous Colmenar butchers. Evening meals can be taken inside or outside on the terrace and special diets can be catered for.

Outside there are two large terraces with shaded area and an 8x4 metre private swimming pool. Here you can relax and enjoy the stunning 270 degree panoramic mountain views, watch eagles soaring the thermals and hear the gentle tinkle of goat bells.

We have a dance studio onsite, so why not try a taster tango class or beginners course during your stay.  We also have yoga mats, weights and a cross trainer if you feel the need for more exercise!   Why not take the opportunity to learn some Spanish while you are here.  We can arrange intensive courses or a few private lessons at our excellent local language school.  We can also arrange day courses at local establishments including Andalucian cookery classes, felt making, bent wire jewellery and pottery classes.
